Kiran Iyer is an Associate at Esner, Chang, Boyer & Murphy. He completed a Bachelor of Arts/Laws with First Class Honors at Monash University in Melbourne, Australia, winning the World Universities Debate Championships and the Monash Moot Competition. He then worked as a law clerk for Chief Justice Robert French of the High Court of Australia (Australia's supreme court) before receiving a full merit scholarship (the Frank Knox Fellowship) to study a Master of Laws at Harvard Law School. At Harvard, he received the Dean's Scholar Prize for his constitutional argument course.

After graduating, Kiran worked for several years as an appellate public defender at the Maryland Office of the Public Defender in Baltimore, arguing seven cases in the Maryland Supreme Court and winning landmark reversals in Malvo v. State (2022) 481 Md. 72 (securing resentencing for one of the "DC Snipers") and Davis v. State (2021) 474 Md. 439 (radically reducing the number of juveniles in Maryland tried as adults). He also argued 24 cases in the Appellate Court of Maryland, winning four reversals in life sentence cases.

Kiran joined Esner, Chang, Boyer & Murphy in 2023. He is licensed to practice law in California, New York, and Maryland.
